Places to visit
We have built our popularity on the bedrock that we are a super and great value base from which to tour the Cotswolds, Stratford, Warwick, The Malverns, Wye-Valley and even the Midlands. For those visiting us for the first time we have lots of suggestions of where to go and what to see.
Everywhere listed below is within around a 30/40 minute drive from the hotel (unless you get stuck behind a tractor or flock of sheep, in which case you could chalk the day up to tedious experience!)
Busy little market town with features such as the River Avon, Bell Tower (1533), old Abbey gardens amd twin churches and the Almonry Museum (super value, well-run and interesting rural museum.)
Places worth a visit include Holy Trinity Church (Shakespeare’s tomb); Shakespeare’s birthplace; Anne Hathaway’s Cottage; Brass Rubbing Centre (rub up a knight or a nun!) and the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.
The Castle (The finest medieval castle in England, according to Madame Tussaud’s who own it! In that case we are the finest hotel in the universe!)
The North Cotswolds
Broadway (Broadway Tower & good tourist shops), Snowshill, Stanton (The Mount, exceptionally good pub, great views, England doesn’t come much better than this), Stanway and Winchcombe, Upper and Lower Slaughter, Bourton-on-the-Water, Chipping Campden and Stow-on-the-Wold.
Regency Shopping Arcade (funny clock that blows bubbles), the promenade is great for antiques and shops.
Cathedral (beside the River Severn and about to fall into it. Tomb of King John) The Commandery (English Civil War & Worcester Industrial Museum)
